Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes First Player to Score 100 Goals for Four Clubs, But Al Nassr Fall Short in Saudi Super Cup Final
Cristiano Ronaldo has made football history once again, becoming the first player to score 100 competitive goals for four different clubs. The 40-year-old reached this remarkable milestone with a first-half penalty for Al Nassr during the Saudi Super Cup final against Al-Ahli on Saturday at Hong Kong Stadium.
Despite Ronaldo’s record-setting goal, Al Nassr ultimately lost in a dramatic penalty shootout after the match ended 2-2 in regular time.
Ronaldo’s latest goal brings his total for Al Nassr to 100 since joining the Saudi club in December 2022. This adds to his impressive tallies of 450 goals for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, and 101 for Juventus—making him the only player ever to hit the century mark with four separate teams. He surpasses previous records held by football legends like Romario, Neymar, and Isidro Langara.
In Saturday’s final, Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 41st minute with a well-taken penalty. Al-Ahli responded quickly, with Franck Kessie equalizing just before halftime. Marcelo Brozovic restored Al Nassr’s lead late in the second half, but Brazilian defender Ibanez headed in a corner to level the score once more and force a penalty shootout.
Although Ronaldo converted his spot-kick in the shootout, teammate Abdullah al-Khaibari missed his, giving Al-Ahli a 5-3 victory and their first trophy of the Saudi Arabian football season.
Ronaldo, who has yet to lift a major title with Al Nassr, remains the world’s leading international goalscorer with 138 goals for Portugal. His latest achievement adds another chapter to an already legendary career.
