Assistant Director Dies During Filming of Emily in Paris Season 5 in Venice
Tragedy struck the production of the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris when 47-year-old assistant director Diego Borella passed away while filming in Venice for the show’s fifth season.
According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Borella collapsed in front of his colleagues at around 7 PM local time (6 PM BST) on Thursday at Hotel Danieli. Despite immediate efforts by the show’s medical team and emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Paramount Television Studios, the producers behind Emily in Paris, expressed their sorrow in a statement to BBC News:
“We are deeply saddened to confirm the sudden passing of a member of the 'Emily in Paris' production family. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Filming was temporarily suspended following the tragic incident.
