Powerball Jackpot Soars to $1.1 Billion Ahead of Labor Day Drawing
The Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed to an estimated $1.1 billion after no ticket matched all six winning numbers in Saturday’s draw, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association.
The massive prize up for grabs on Monday’s Labor Day drawing will be the fifth-largest jackpot in Powerball history, making it one of the most anticipated events of the year for lottery players.
Saturday’s Winning Numbers
The numbers drawn on Saturday were 3, 18, 22, 27, 33, with the red Powerball 17 and a Power Play multiplier of 3.
Odds of Winning
Powerball officials remind players that the odds of hitting the jackpot remain 1 in 292.2 million. Despite the slim chances, millions continue to play, especially when the prize pool crosses the billion-dollar mark.
Jackpot Payout Options
If someone wins Monday’s draw, they will have two payout options:
-
A lump sum payment of $498.4 million before taxes.
-
An annuity valued at $1.1 billion, distributed over 30 years, starting with an immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.
“America has waited all year for the chance to play for a billion-dollar jackpot,” said Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and CEO of the Iowa Lottery.

Monday’s draw will mark the 40th consecutive drawing since the last jackpot was won on May 31 in California.
