William and Kate to Relocate to Forest Lodge, Windsor This Year

The Prince and Princess of Wales are preparing to move into a new home in Windsor later this year. According to PA Media, the royal family will be settling into Forest Lodge, a charming eight-bedroom residence nestled in Windsor Great Park. Kensington Palace confirmed the news, stating simply: “The Wales family will move house later this year.”

Their current residence at Adelaide Cottage, also located in Windsor, sits just a short distance away from the new property. Recently, planning permission was granted for modest internal and external renovations at Forest Lodge—including the removal of a window and updates to the fireplace—reference documents from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead show.

Originally restored in 2001 at a cost of approximately £1.5 million (around $2 million), historical photographs of Forest Lodge reveal its traditional stonework, ornate plaster cornices, and richly decorated ceilings.

A Return to Windsor Roots

This move isn’t the first time the family has relocated in a bid for normalcy. Back in August 2022, the then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose to move their family out of London during the school term, aiming to offer their children—George, Charlotte, and Louis—a grounded upbringing outside the capital.

A Period of Personal Trials and Resilience

The upcoming relocation comes during a particularly challenging time for the family. Earlier this year, Catherine revealed her cancer diagnosis and details of her chemotherapy treatment. During that period, she stepped back from public life, only returning to limited appearances last summer. In September, she joyfully announced that she had completed her chemotherapy and was focused on staying “cancer free.”
