Powerball Jackpot of 1.787 Billion Won in Missouri and Texas

The Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) has confirmed that winning tickets for Saturday’s enormous Powerball jackpot, totaling $1.787 billion, were sold in Missouri and Texas. This makes it the second-largest lottery prize in U.S. history.

Each jackpot winner can choose between an annuity of $893.5 million or a lump sum of $410.3 million, both before taxes. In Texas, the winning ticket was purchased at Big’s convenience store in Fredericksburg, about 70 miles northwest of San Antonio. Missouri Lottery officials said the location of their winning ticket will be disclosed within 72 hours, in line with standard procedures.

Aside from the jackpot winners, two tickets sold in Kansas and Texas claimed $2 million prizes, and 18 tickets across 13 states each won $1 million.

The winning numbers were 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, with a red Powerball 17 and a Power Play multiplier of 2.

With Saturday’s jackpot claimed, the Powerball jackpot will reset to $20 million for the next drawing on Monday. This win also ends a 42-drawing streak without a jackpot winner, which had started in May.

Powerball tickets, priced at $2 each, are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The largest Powerball prize on record remains the $2.04 billion jackpot won in California on November 7, 2022.

The Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), which runs Powerball, announced in a statement: “With final ticket sales, the Powerball jackpot reached $1.787 billion – making it the second-largest U.S. lottery jackpot ever won.”

Each winning ticket holder now has the choice between an annuitized prize of $893.5 million or a lump-sum payout of $410.3 million before taxes. The Texas-winning ticket was sold at Big’s convenience store in Fredericksburg, roughly 70 miles northwest of San Antonio, according to the Texas Lottery. Missouri officials said the location of their winning ticket will be revealed within 72 hours, following standard lottery procedures.
