King Charles Faces Royal Rift as Tensions With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Deepen
King Charles finds himself in a difficult position once again, with tensions surrounding his youngest son, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle casting fresh uncertainty over potential reconciliation within the Royal Family.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams explained the situation in an interview, pointing much of the blame toward Meghan. He noted, “What makes sense is for Prince Harry and the King to meet privately and rebuild trust. However, there is no chance of that happening right now.”
According to Fitzwilliams, if King Charles does not meet Harry during his next UK visit, the responsibility is likely to fall on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. He argued this is especially true since Meghan recently criticized royal traditions in a Bloomberg interview, saying she felt “inauthentic” as a working member of the monarchy.
During that interview, Meghan openly challenged long-standing royal customs, including wearing pantyhose and avoiding political commentary—remarks that reignited debates about her strained relationship with the Firm.
Fitzwilliams also highlighted Prince Harry’s recent controversies, recalling his “emotional and erratic” BBC interview in May after losing a legal battle over security. He suggested that royal aides had hinted at possible progress, but added that leaks to the media may have further strained trust.
Adding to the tension, Harry is rumored to be a potential participant in a Netflix documentary marking the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s tragic death—a project that could prove deeply sensitive for both Prince William and King Charles.
Given these developments, Fitzwilliams believes the King will not be faulted for keeping his distance. Still, he admitted that a private meeting between father and son remains possible, which could open the door to healing fractured ties.
